South End of Walney 20 June 2012

Spent a very pleasurable day at the South End. Unfortunately there was a slight easterly and the sea was calm hence my expectations were not high. Started 3hours before high water (1306). Fished with blow lug/ blow lug tipped with squid/ frozen sand eels. Action was pretty slow with my bait just being nabbed by crabs (evidence in one photo). Weather was quite pleasant, fortunately the storm clouds stayed in the Irish Sea.

Had one knock and the tip of the sand eel was missing. Used all my sand eels up and resorted to just lug.
The tide was dropping fast and I was contemplating packing in when the rod wend bang bang…..nice sliver (returned, this was caught 1 1/4 hours after high water. No sign of seals until I packed in @1500 when two showed up.
