16 Nov 2012 Earnsie Bay

Decided to have a session  at one of my regular marks on Walney to use up my leftover fresh blow lugworm, also had frozen squid , mackerel , mussel and  black. Fished for the first time with two rods and christened my new 15ft Triplex and Abu 6500i TSR.

It was a grey day with a  SE breeze and a decent surf on when I arrived @1015 and it was dry…..which was the main thing. I started fishing @1030  (HT 1235  9.50 M).

I was the only one fishing until Steve Maggee turned up @1045……without his new Sonic, he tells me he is waiting until Father Christmas brings him an Ian Gold rod rest before christening it!

On my “old” rod I fished with a single 3/0 Manta Extra bottom hook (attached to a Gemini link clip) and a 3/0 Manta Extra/ 2/0 pennel Manta Extra on the top. Started with frozen mussel hook tipped with mackerel on the bottom and frozen black tipped with squid on the top. Later on I swapped this rig for a a one up one down two hook flapper rig ,top hook fresh lug tipped with a squid head and bottom clipped hook with blow lug tipped with squid.

On my “new” rod I fished a 1 hook size 2/0 clip rig loaded with frozen black. later on made up the black with fresh blow.

The session was quite from start to finish and I never had a knock on either rod…..take that is a double blank , a first but probably not the last for me. Although it was fishless still managed to have a  good crack with Steve!

Myself and Steve  stuck it out until 11/2 hour after high water, oh and by the way Steve blanked as well…….. his fourth in a row!

  1. I haven’t checked in here for a while as I thought it was getting boring, but the last several posts are great quality so I guess I will add you back to my daily bloglist. You deserve it my friend 🙂 .

  2. You ok? You dont seem to have been out for a while..

    • Hi Nutty…no haven’t been out since 16 Nov! Weather puts me right off…..not like you. Got some frozen black and squid from Gerrys last Saturday and was going to do Earnsie Bay last Tuesday, brilliant sunny calm day (no good for fish) but I had to sort my sons Beagle puppy out.. with a walk to Earnsie Bay….fantastic weather then it dramatically changed on Wednesday.
